Marvel’s Hercules Could Get A MCU Project After ‘Thor 4’ Post-Credits Scene

Is the MCU finally sorting through its post-credits scene backlog? One forgotten hero may be getting their due in the latest Marvel rumor.

Despite being the progenitor of the modern post-credits scene, the past few years has seen Marvel struggle to cash in the checks they promised. The MCU is now so littered with teases and new characters, from Hercules to Starfox, that it would almost take a whole phase within itself to clear everything up. This has left many to wonder if any of these scenes will be forgotten for good.

While the jury is still out on most of them, it seems one post-credits scene is being plucked from the grave to be given new life by Marvel Studios. The latest rumor from insider DanielRPK reveals that a project based on Hercules is currently in development for the MCU, with Ted Lasso breakout Brett Goldstein set to reprise his role following a small cameo as the character in the post-credits scene of Thor: Love and Thunder.

What A Hercules Project Could Mean For The MCU

There are two ways a project based on Hercules would play out within the MCU. The first is that Marvel does what they do with most of the post-credits scene characters they don’t want to deal with: punt them into a Disney Plus series. This could pay off, given Brett Goldstein’s history with prestige TV, but it likely wouldn’t be anything too exciting.

What would be exciting is a feature film focused on Hercules with Brett Goldstein as the lead. With Chris Hemsworth’s time in the MCU seemingly coming to an end, Marvel is likely looking for a new character to take on the mythology-centric side of their universe. And who better to take on the mantle than their second most popular god? Though given how often the Hercules character has struggled on the big screen for anything other than an animated movie, that may be a bigger risk than the studio is willing to take.

A Hercules project is reportedly in development at Marvel Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
