Is Miles Morales banned from the MCU? Kevin Feige reveals what restrictions he has when using one of the most beloved versions of Spider-Man.
The future has never looked brighter for Spider-Man in the MCU. Kevin Feige and Tom Holland are reuniting once more to start a brand new era for the character on the silver screen. This has led to rampant speculation about where the character will go next. One of the most popular parts of the discourse has been the idea that Miles Morales will appear as a protégé to Peter Parker in the next saga of the franchise.
However, it seems as though things aren’t looking as bright as fans once thought when it comes to Miles Morales’ future in the MCU. Kevin Feige recently revealed that the franchise is banned from using Miles Morales in their Spider-Man films by Sony Pictures until they wrap up their own take on the character. Which, given how many delays the film has experienced, may be a long time away!
“That is nowhere,” Feige answered when asked about the status of Miles Morales in the MCU by Variety. “Sony has their brilliant, genius, incredible Spider- Verse animated franchise going and until that finishes, we’ve been told to stay away.”
Miles Morales Fate In The MCU
While some fans may see this as the death knell of Miles Morales and Peter Parker sharing the silver screen in the MCU, things aren’t so simple. Kevin Feige simply says they can’t use the character until the animated Spider-Verse is over. Even if the finale is delayed to 2028, it’s still likely that the character will be freed to use in the MCU’s fifth Spider-Man film.
The real notable point is that it may very well be possible for Miles Morales to appear in Secret Wars if Beyond the Spider-Verse isn’t delayed further. It would certainly be a tricky situation given they’d only have a few months to film Spider-Man’s scenes, but some studio politicking could mean that the character could appear in the MCU sooner than anyone might expect.
