The Young Avengers are getting a facelift! A rumor suggests the Marvel project is being reworked to focus on the Champions as production nears.
One of the most open secrets in the MCU is that Marvel is setting the stage for a Young Avengers project. Almost every key member of the team has made their debut in recent years, from America Chavez to Wiccan, with more reportedly on the way. This includes many characters from other teen hero teams, such as Ms. Marvel from Champions.
However, it seems that the two teams may be taking more from each other than first thought. The predominant rumor surrounding the project is that Marvel plans to combine the Young Avengers and Champions into a single team with their most popular members, with Champions being the current name used for the project internally.
When Will Champions Enter Production?
Despite having been the center of the rumor mill for many years, it seems Marvel still has quite a bit to go until Champions is seen by audiences. A new report from Hollywood insider DanielRPK reveals that the former Young Avengers project won’t start production until 2026. Even with the most generous of estimates, this means the project likely won’t be hitting screens until at least 2027.
The initial rumor stated that the Young Avengers project was planned to premiere on Disney Plus. Currently, it’s unclear whether the Champions version of the project will be a feature film, series, or special presentation. Though given Marvel doesn’t have much of a lineup for the MCU beyond Secret Wars, it’s possible it’s being retooled as their next tentpole film.
Champions is reportedly in development for the MCU, though has not been officially confirmed. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the future of the Young Avengers project and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
