It all began with Beverly Hills, 90210. After bad boy Jake Hanson (played by Grant Show) was a hit with audiences in the teen drama, producers created its spin-off Melrose Place, a show named after the LA apartment complex where Jake lived along with his sexy neighbours.
“I’ll never forget walking onto the soundstage and seeing they’d dug a swimming pool into the stage floor,” Show told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. “I thought, ‘We’re going to be here for a while. We have to pay off that pool.'”
Another concern for the actor was when producers wanted to bring on a love interest, Jo, who was played by Daphne Zuniga. Show knew of Zuniga from college and mutual friends, but when she ignored him during one chance outing, he was so filthy he asked producers not to hire her.
“I was like, I do not want this person working with me,” he recalled to ET in 2021. “Thank God they didn’t listen to me and hired her. And I love her now.”
The actor stayed for five seasons before guest-starring in other hit shows, such as Six Feet Under, Private Practice, Burn Notice, CSI and Criminal Minds. From 2017 until 2022, he played the role of Blake Carrington in the Dynasty reboot.
