Did Milly Alcock enter the DC Universe on the right foot? The actress reveals some sage advice she was given following being cast as Supergirl.
Taking on the role of a superhero is a massive undertaking. Most actors have the luxury of decades upon decades of working in film or tv to prepare themselves for the stresses of being a public figure. However, Milly Alcock didn’t have that luxury when she was cast in the DC Universe. While she certainly had a high profile role prior with House of the Dragon, the actress was only 20 when she was brought on to be one of the pillars of the franchise as Supergirl.
This likely came with a lot of stressors, with the young actress forced to forge her own path in the burgeoning franchise. Milly Alcock actually spoke about her journey as Supergirl so far in a chat with IndieWire. She revealed that she actually reached out for some advice on joining the DC Universe following being cast. That advice? Be prepared for some bruises.
“No, I asked [for advice],” Alcock explained “They were just like, ‘Prepare to be bruised, there will be battle scars, and you’ll be proud of them. That definitely happened!”
Milly Alcock’s Future As Supergirl
Even though productions like those in the DC Universe often have stunt people, there’s only so far a character can go without their face being shown. Especially for someone like Supergirl, filming likely means wearing a harness dangling you in the air for hours at a time! And as the genre continues to age and mature, now 20 years out from the start of the MCU, it’s good that Milly Alcock had veterans from these franchises to reach out to.
Given Milly Alcock’s age, it’s likely that the studio heads want her to stay as Supergirl for a long time to come, making her one of the big faces of the DC Universe. Of course, there’s no telling on how long that will be, and what other projects she may join the cast of in the meantime. Though one thing is for certain: it seems the Woman of Tomorrow is ready for the action!
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to release on June 26, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
