The drama swirling around The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives just got a whole lot messier, and this time it has nothing to do with wild MomTok scandals or infamous late-night party games.
One of the show’s central faces, Miranda McWhorter, has found herself slapped with a hefty court judgment after allegedly ignoring a lawsuit over an unpaid credit card bill. And when we say hefty, we mean a FULL five figures!

According to documents first unearthed by Us Weekly on Monday, a Utah court entered a default judgment against Miranda way back on August 21 for a total of $12,849 after Discover Bank claimed she hadn’t paid her credit card bill — and then didn’t bother showing up to defend herself in court over it!
The bank originally filed the lawsuit back in September of last year for $12,409.27. And when no response came from Miranda or her team through this August, the judge granted Discover’s request to get their money back and tack on over $400 in fees and interest. OUCH!
According to the court paperwork, lawyers for the bank didn’t mince words. They wrote:
“Although demand has repeatedly been made up [McWhorter], payment has not been made on the account.”
And they didn’t stop there. Another document added:
“As a result of services provided at [McWhorter’s] request, [Discover] established an account with [McWhorter]. [McWhorter] defaulted on the account by failing to make payments as they became due.”
Discover even attached a full copy of the bill, showing Miranda originally opened the account back in 2018. So, this isn’t exactly a new issue bubbling out of nowhere.
What’s more, she was officially served at a four-bedroom, four-bath South Jordan, Utah home — which, per Us, is nearly 3,000 square feet and valued around $571,000.
Sheesh!
But here’s where things get even more tangled. The mag reports that in January, before the papers were handed over, Miranda’s then-husband Chase McWhorter called the process server to say they were working with a debt relief company. Yet despite the heads-up, neither Miranda nor Chase filed anything in court. Total silence. And silence always speaks loud to a judge!
Fans of the show will remember that Miranda and Chase split in 2024 after seven years of marriage. The former couple shares two kids, Brooks and Cohen, and Chase has recently insisted they’re successfully navigating co-parenting. Which, hey! Peaceful vibes between exes are great! But that apparently wasn’t enough to inspire either of them to confront this debt situation.
