The Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) announced the “Movie Awards Charity Challenge,” a fundraising effort inviting movie buffs to predict who will win big at the upcoming movie awards on March 2.
With a donation of $20 per entry, players can test their film knowledge across multiple categories – such as “Best Picture” and “Best Actor” as well as unofficial categories like “Longest Acceptance Speech.”
One lucky winner will receive a four-night stay at Four Seasons Resort Maui and $2,000 in Delta Air Lines flights. The game is available at www.mptf.com/movieawardscharitychallenge, and donations will be collected until March 2, 6:59 p.m. ET.
Funds raised will help MPTF continue to provide essential support and services to working and retired entertainment industry members in response to the many needs associated with the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
Crew members and their families who survive in a job-by-job economy can struggle with basic needs like rent, mortgage and house payments, medical bills, and groceries even in the best of times, which is where MPTF’s emergency financial services and dedicated social services team are vital to provide a lifeline to those who need it.
“With the ‘Movie Awards Charity Challenge,’ we’re providing another tool for those who love film and television to directly support those who need it most,” said MPTF CEO, Bob Beitcher. “In the wake of the devastation caused by the Southern California wildfires, MPTF is providing critical services, including financial assistance, supportive counseling, and assistance navigating insurance needs. Our Social Services team has been reaching out to our high-risk community in fire-impacted areas and receiving calls from working and retired industry members with needs including medical supplies and food.”
During awards season, MPTF is known for its annual “Night Before” benefit which gathers a star-studded host committee, award nominees and presenters, and some of the most powerful industry influencers to raise essential funds for entertainment workers. At this year’s benefit, MPTF will include its “Movie Awards Charity Challenge” for its attendees.
“Thropic Games is honored to support MPTF and entertainment workers with our fundraising platform to create the “Movie Awards Charity Challenge,” said Kyle Christensen, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Thropic Games. “It’s a great way to make a difference in the lives of so many people, all while having the fun. We are thrilled to support MPTF in extending their fundraising efforts to reach even more. We call it gaming for good.”
MPTF’s corporate partners, sponsors, and donors help support the charitable programs and services essential to the well-being of entertainment workers. To learn more about MPTF please visit MPTF.com.
