Is Kamala Khan coming back to the MCU? A producer on Ms. Marvel speaks on if Iman Velllani will ever return as the beloved hero.
Marvel has introduced quite a lot of new characters in the latest phase of the MCU. Some are controversial, like Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight. Others are widely hated by fans, like Captain Carter. However, perhaps none could be considered as truly beloved as Iman Vellani’s take on Kamala Khan. For as contentious as Ms. Marvel and The Marvels were, very little of the blame can be placed at the feet of the character herself.
Though it’s because of the controversial nature of her starring projects that some fans are worried Iman Vellani’s time as Ms. Marvel may be over. No matter how much fans may like how a character is written, their future is determined by the success of their projects. Though it seems things may not be as doom and gloom as one might think. Sana Amanat, a longtime MCU producer working on projects like Ms. Marvel and Daredevil: Born Again, has hopes that Kamala Khan will return sooner rather than later, even if there aren’t currently plans.
“Oh God, I hope soon!” Amanat told a TV Line reporter. “She is beloved by all of us at Marvel, and we have been talking… Hopefully there will be plans soon, but it is very, very TBD. Hopefully [The Marvels] will not be the last we see of her.”
Will Iman Vellani Return As Ms. Marvel?
While there are no public plans about Kamala Khan, it’s not likely that the character has been left on the cutting room floor of the MCU. Given the context of Avengers: Doomsday and how The Marvels ended, it’s more likely than not that Iman Vellani makes her grand return as Ms. Marvel in the film. And given it’s currently shooting as this article is being written, confirmation of that fact will likely come sooner rather than later.
Otherwise, it was also teased that Kamala Khan was assembling her own version of the Avengers at the end of The Marvels. It’s possible that Iman Vellani will be skipping out on Avengers: Doomsday, but take a starring role in the Young Avengers/Champions project that’s reportedly in the works to pay off that scene. Either way, even if fans can’t see the progress, Ms. Marvel is far from gone for good in spite of her controversial project slate.
