The man accused of faking ransom messages to the Guthrie family has been released.
As we previously reported, a man named Derrick Callella was arrested for allegedly sending texts to Savannah Guthrie‘s sister Annie Guthrie and brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni while they were in a desperate search for information about Nancy Guthrie. A real scummy thing to do!
Well, the 42-year-old Hawthorne, California native was in federal court in Tucson on Thursday. He’s been charged with transmitting a demand for ransom in interstate commerce AND utilizing a telecommunications device with intent to abuse, threaten or harass a person “without disclosing his identity” per the US Department of Justice.

According to local outlet KOLD News 13, he was released with pretrial restrictions on Friday, but refused to speak to any of the reporters outside as they watched him exit the courthouse. You can see the video (below):
As of right now, still no new updates on Nancy. And now our justice system is having to deal with this guy. Ugh. We hope she’s found safe soon.
The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie, and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information or tips to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI, 88-CRIME or tips.fbi.gov.
