8 Mile star Nashawn Breedlove has died at the age of 46, TMZ has reported.
According to the publication, the actor and battle rapper died in his sleep on Sunday in New Jersey, with a family member confirming the sad news to the outlet.
Hip hop star Mickey Factz also tweeted: ”RIP to one of the few emcee’s to beat Eminem… Lotto from 8 Mile. Who’s friends lovingly called him, OX. You will be missed for your tenacity and aggressiveness.”

Breedlove portrayed the character Lotto in the hit 2002 film, which was said to be loosely based on Eminem‘s life.
It also starred the likes of the late Brittany Murphy, Kim Basinger and Mekhi Phifer.
Lotto and Eminem’s character had a rap battle in the film.

According to Variety, Breedlove’s mother Patricia also confirmed his death on Facebook this week.
“Nashawn was a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor,” she reportedly wrote.
“No one could deny his talent. Nashawn’s departure from this world has left an immense void in my life, one that words cannot fully express.”
“I can’t put into words the pain and hurt that I feel.
“He was not just my son; he was a remarkable man whose character and strength inspired all who crossed his path.”

Breedlove also featured on the soundtrack for the comedy film The Wash, which starred Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
His cause of death is not yet known.
