New Trailer for Release of Pixar’s ‘Soul’, ‘Luca’, ‘Turning Red’ in Theaters

“You fell in love with them… now experience them on the biggest screen possible.” It’s official! Disney has announced that the three beloved Pixar movies made & released during the pandemic directly to streaming (on Disney+) will get proper theatrical releases in early 2024. This is a surprise from the Mouse House, especially considering they don’t seem overly confident in Pixar anymore, with many of Disney’s animated release not doing well in theaters. Fans have been complaining for years, and word is many workers at Pixar also complained about missing out on theatrical releases. “Disney & Pixar’s Soul, Turning Red, and Luca are coming to theaters in 2024!” These three excellent Pixar movies are getting release starting on January 12th (Soul with the short film Burrow), February 9th (Turning Red with the short film Kitbull), March 22nd (Luca with the classic short film For the Birds). These are three of Pixar’s best in years (yes it’s true), and they’ve also got Inside Out 2 coming to theaters in June 2024. I will go see them! Each one is delightful.

Soul is co-directed by filmmaker Pete Docter (of Monsters Inc, Up, Inside Out), along with filmmaker Kemp Powers (making his feature directorial debut after working as a writer for “Star Trek: Discovery”). The screenplay is co-written by Pete Docter, Mike Jones, and Kemp Powers. It’s produced by Dana Murray. Luca is directed by Italian artist / filmmaker Enrico Casarosa, making his feature directorial debut after also directing the Pixar short La Luna (2011); he has also worked for years as a storyboard artist at Blue Sky and Pixar. The screenplay is written by Jesse Andrews and Mike Jones. It’s produced by Andrea Warren. Turning Red is both written and directed by Chinese-Canadian animation filmmaker Domee Shi, making her feature directorial debut after making the award-winning Bao short previously; she has also worked as a storyboard artist. It’s produced by Lindsey Collins. The three films were created at Pixar Animation Studios.
Disney will release Pixar’s Soul in theaters starting January 12th, 2024; next up will be Pixar’s Turning Red starting February 9th 2024; along with Pixar’s Luca starting March 22nd, 2024 coming up soon.
