SNL Video: Adam Driver Plays a Creepy Childhood Pal in 'Old Friends'"/> <meta class="swiftype" name="body" data-type="text" content="Going back home for the holidays can be a stressful time, so why not let Saturday Night Live add one more thing to your anxiety list?

The pre-taped sketch "Old Friends" features guest host Adam Driver as the childhood pal who you lost touch with — and who will make you wish you stayed back in the big city for Christmas.

Mikey Day and Chloe Fineman play a couple visiting his family for the holidays. In his old bedroom, he finds a picture that inspires him to call his friend, Keith (played by Driver). They haven't talked in a long time, but he has fond memories of playing in their backyard.

The entire sketch plays out as a series of text exchanges where Keith quickly reveals he's homophobic, a sex offender, and the subject of a Netflix docuseries. And even though they say don't judge a book by its cover? If someone you know looks as creepy as Driver does in that picture on the Netflix homepage? Judge away.

Each succeeding message is another reason why Jake absolutely should not hang out with Keith, up to and including bringing along his... friend? Drug dealer? Parole officer? A guy named Big Filthy (Devon Walker) who asks if he's allergic to latex. Additional props to Fineman's character who adds an additional layer of fun commentary as she reads over Jake's shoulder and also to the text effects. The “typing message” dots never felt more expressive.

All of which leads to the final reveal of the sketch, which makes a pretty strong case for keeping up with your friends once you all move away. Or maybe just skip the holiday trip back home? Between this and possibly ending up in a Hallmark movie, is it worth the risk?
