One Piece is arguably one of the most popular animes of our time, and it’s live action adaptation is proving to be just as popular. Hardly out for two weeks on the giant streamer and it has already scored a second season.
Netflix didn’t even blink when they made the decision to grant One Piece a season two. It’s a fantastical adventure on the high seas in this series. Loaded with fight scenes which feature tons of impressive stunts and are dense with background action.
Executive producer (and creator of the original manga) Eiichiro Oda said in video announcing the pickup on Thursday:
“To the Straw Hat Grand Fleet: What did you think of Season 1 of the live-action One Piece? I spent a long time working on it with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios. It seems people around the world have been enjoying the show, which makes the hard work from the production team truly worth it. To everyone who’s been a fan of One Piece for years, and to those who experienced One Piece for the first time, thank you so much. Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news: Netflix has decided to renew the show! The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward! It’ll still take a while to get the scripts ready, so please be patient. From here on, it seems to me the Straw Hats will need a great doctor… We will see!”
Since the show’s launch on Aug. 31, One Piece has stayed No. 1 on Netflix’s Top 10.
One Piece “follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy’s) on a legendary high-seas adventure. After finally deciding to follow his dreams of freedom, he assembles a crew, finds a ship to sail and sets out on a treasure hunt to become King of the Pirates. But along the way, he and his crew must face the harsh sea and dangerous rivals.”
