Foo Fighters are headlining a daunting number of music festivals this year, and tonight they took the stage on the final day of Bonnaroo.
Having just released their 11th studio album, But Here We Are, at the top of the month, the band performed songs from the new record, including “Under You” and “Show Me How.” But for their classic ballad “My Hero,” the evening took an exciting turn. Paramore’s Hayley Williams, who played that same stage just before Foo Fighters’ set walked back on, to join the acclaimed headliners for an unforgettable performance.

Having long since cited Foo Fighters and their late drummer Taylor Hawkins as an “important band to Paramore” for their understanding of and emphasis on the drums as a central force in the songwriting process, this certainly is a heavy and emotional full circle moment for Williams and for her fans. And it seems to have made an impact on Dave Grohl as well, who excitedly remarked, midsong, “Aw she’s harmonizing!”
