Dynamite alongside Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products is ecstatic to announce that even more sugar, spice, and everything nice is coming this October for The Powerpuff Girls fanatics just in time for San Diego Comic-Con!
Next to the coming special, the ongoing series jumps into part two with a brand new writer. Multi-Eisner Award-nominated Kelly Thompson took on the first three exciting stories for the series. Joined by artists Paulina Ganucheau, Karen S. Darboe, and Miriana Puglia on each issue. Now for issue #4 Thompson hands the keys to her collaborator, as Paulina Ganucheau takes the wheel for the next three issues!
Ganucheau exclaims:
It would be an understatement to say how beyond honored I am to be taking up the helm on one of the greatest properties ever and to follow in the comics footsteps of the great Kelly Thompson. I am so excited, and as a lifelong fan I will be putting my best foot forward with these three issues. Now, if only I could go back in time and tell my 10-year-old self that she’d one day be writing The Powerpuff Girls comics, she would shoot through the roof!
In this issue, Ganucheau will focus on writing, and artist Silvia De Ventura will be alongside her for the next three chapters. This marks the first shift as the series will pass off to a different female writer every three issues. Fans will be able to tune in each quarter when the next creative team brings their stories to the series for their own take!
Ganucheau is providing a cover for this issue, continuing her streak in the series so far. She will be joined by returning artist Nicoletta Baldari, along with newcomers Kenya Danino and Pasquale Qualano.
As for the story, Issue #4 brings sugar, spice, and an accidental amount of Chemical X to the forefront of a charity bake sale competition hosted by none other than Ms. Bellum and the Mayor. Entering a bake sale may prove to be a whole new kind of challenge for Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles compared to fighting giant monsters and thwarting bank heists. If that wasn’t enough, facing off against Princess Morbucks in the bake sale showdown will prove to be an entirely different kind of challenge!
You won’t want to miss out on this release! The Power Puff Girls is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ August 2024 Previews catalog and slated for release in October 2024. Make sure to go to your local comic shop and let them know you want your copy!
