EXCLUSIVE: Paris-based style specialist Reel Suspects has boarded gross sales on Gary Huggins’ debut comedy characteristic Kick Me a couple of faculty counsellor whose night time takes a comedic-nightmarish flip when he visits Kansas Metropolis, Kansas (KCK).
Santiago Vasquez performs the counsellor, who downplays his fears about visiting KCK, to please a prize scholar who hails from the town, the identical night time he has promised to shock his daughter with a pet rabbit after a college live performance.
As he crosses the state line from Kansas Metropolis, Missouri, his well-intentioned journey unravels when he falls into the crosshairs of an area warlord, setting him on a weird journey throughout the town.
Kick Me is Huggins’s debut characteristic.
It has taken the filmmaker, who hails from and lives in KCK, a decade to finish the work after it was initially shot in 2012 and chosen for the Gotham (then IFP) Narrative Lab in 2013.
Huggins mentioned his unique intent had been to make a “fast, enjoyable manufacturing” with Vasquez after their profitable collaboration on the 2006 quick movie First Date, which performed at Sundance, SXSW and France’s Clermond-Ferrand quick movie pageant.
