But! There are refreshing new developments to discuss in the reality TV couple’s slow-motion separation and two-plus-year-long estrangement!!

According to a source spilling tea to Us Weekly on Tuesday, just days after Kyle and Mau were spotted together multiple times between Christmas and New Year’s, the vibe between the Bravo star and her estranged hubby is warm, friendly, and… very much NOT romantic. The insider said:
“They are not getting back together or rekindling their romance.”
Deep breaths, everyone! Before you start screaming into your Real Housewives of Beverly Hills pillows, the same insider made it clear this isn’t some icy, awkward ex situation either:
“There is still so much love between them.”

So, yes, love is alive and well — just apparently filed under platonic, nostalgic, and family-first. And honestly, for a couple that spent 27 years married, that’s kind of a miracle in Hollywood terms. Plus, the source insists that despite the rough split back in 2023, the former couple is actually thriving in their own unconventional way:
“[They are] in a really good place right now.”
Kyle and Mauricio share daughters Alexia, Sophia, and Portia, and Mau has been a father figure to Kyle’s daughter Farrah since she was a toddler, so keeping things calm and normal for the girls has always been the priority. Especially during the holidays, when emotions run high and cameras, both professional and social media, are always lurking!
The insider revealed:
“Kyle and Mau have done a good job maintaining normalcy in front of the girls especially during the holiday season.”
And for those hoping their daughters are secretly playing matchmaker behind the scenes, think again. The insider says the girls are realistic about where their parents stand and aren’t pushing some fairytale reunion narrative:
“The girls aren’t pushing [a romantic reunion] either. Of course it would be great if they called off their separation, but the family knows it’s most likely not going to happen.”
Still, that didn’t stop the internet from losing its collective mind when Sophia posted an adorable video days ago of her parents watching a movie on the floor by the fire like teenagers at a sleepover. Add in the exes’ New Year’s Eve appearance at Kate Hudson’s Aspen party, where they were reportedly touchy and warm, and once again the rumor mill went into overdrive.

But those in the know say what you’re seeing is genuine friendship, and not secret sneaking around or a soft launch of a romantic reunion. The source explained:
“They are genuinely friends right now and still have so much fun together. They have been loving towards one another but that doesn’t mean they are getting back together.”
As 2026 kicks off, the people closest to Kyle and Mau are apparently all about this evolved dynamic, too:
“Everyone [in their lives] loves the dynamic right now. Everyone is very happy. They have come a long way and are back in a good place.”
