This week’s retro trailer is for the 1981 psychological thriller The Pit, which was directed by Lew Lehman. The story revolves around Jamie, a socially awkward young boy who discovers a pit in the woods behind his house that is inhabited by strange, carnivorous creatures.
Feeling isolated and rejected by his peers, Jamie begins to use the creatures in the pit as a means of revenge against those who have wronged him. As Jamie’s actions become increasingly disturbing and dangerous, the line between reality and his vivid imagination begins to blur.
The Pit features a blend of awkward horror, suspense, and dark comedy. It delves into the twisted mind of Jamie, who is portrayed as an outcast struggling to fit in. It doesn’t help that his best friend is a Teddy Bear that talks to him.
