This Real Housewives of Atlanta love story is, sadly, coming to an end!
Kandi Burruss announced on Friday that she and Todd Tucker are divorcing after 11 years of marriage! Oh no! The Bravo star said in a statement to Us Weekly:
“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect. I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”

Kandi did not say when or why she and Todd broke up. However, sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that the longtime couple separated a few months ago after growing apart. According to insiders, Kandi stopped wearing her wedding ring and has been staying in New York City recently, while Todd has been taking care of their children in Atlanta. The sources insisted it has been an amicable split with “legitimately no drama,” though. They reportedly talk every day on the phone, and when they see each other in person.
That is great to hear since they have two young children together, son Ace and daughter Blaze. Kandi is also a mom to 23-year-old daughter Riley, whom she shares with ex Russell Spencer, while Todd has a daughter named Kaela from a previous relationship. And it truly does look like the pair are going through the split amicably! They posted a family photo from an apple picking trip in October. See (below):
No one, of course, knew they likely were separated here at the time! But we love to see a healthy co-parenting relationship! Kandi also attended BravoCon last weekend without her hubby. While accepting the Wifetime Achievement Award, however, she gave Todd a shout-out, saying:
“To Todd, thank you for surviving the blogs, the shade, the rumors, the lies, the truths, the fights, the almost fights … reunions. You earned this award too.”
Aww! Hopefully, Todd and Kandi can continue to keep the peace as they go through the divorce process!
Fans know that the two met on the set of The Real Housewives of Atlanta back in 2011. He worked on the series as a production manager, while she was one of the housewives. They soon struck up a romance and tied the knot three years later. Unfortunately, their romance didn’t come without drama. Todd found himself feuding with his mother-in-law, Mama Joyce Jones, over the years.
Kandi’s mom disliked him from the start, calling him a “gold-digging opportunist” on the show. Jeez. The pair tried to remain cordial for the television personality’s sake, emphasis on tried. However, they continued to fight. Mama Joyce even threw shade at Todd at BravoCon 2022, saying she could not utter three nice things about him. Damn. That sent him over the edge, where he refused to talk or be around her for a while. However, they eventually worked it out. Kandi said a year later:
“That BravoCon last year set it off in my household. They weren’t talking. If she came around, Todd would leave. It was a whole mess. I guess over the summer, he decided to let it go. They started communicating. She comes over and hangs out with the kids.”
Mama Joyce is likely celebrating this breakup news right now. Oof.
