Longtime Hollywood actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday afternoon in what authorities are investigating as an apparent homicide, and their 32-year-old son is in custody.
Paramedics responded to a call for medical aid at the residence in the Brentwood neighborhood around 3:30 p.m. PT. Inside, they found Reiner, 78, and his wife, 68, dead.
According to multiple reports, the couple suffered stab wounds. According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department records, Nick Reiner was taken into custody late Sunday and booked into jail. He’s being held on $4 million bail.
Reiner was the director of several classic Hollywood movies, including This Is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, Stand by Me and Misery.
As an actor, Reiner was best known for playing Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the iconic sitcom All in the Family, alongside Archie Bunker.
Singer Reiner was a photographer and producer.
