The tragedy surrounding the deaths of legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Singer Reiner, has already felt unbearable, and now there is another deeply sobering development.
According to a new report out in TMZ on Monday night, the deceased couple’s son Nick Reiner — the man who is suspected by police of killing the pair — is now on suicide watch while in custody following his arrest in connection with their deaths.

Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Nick is currently being held on suicide watch in the administrative segregation section of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles, where he remains without bail.
As you know, Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were found brutally stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon. They were discovered by their daughter, Romy Reiner, in what is seriously a nightmare no one should ever have to endure. Authorities have said there were no signs of forced entry — a detail that immediately raised troubling questions as investigators began piecing together the final hours of the couple’s lives.
Nick, 32, was arrested hours later on Sunday evening near the University of Southern California and booked on suspicion of murder.
In the hours since, more context has emerged that paints a picture of a family under strain. Friends have spoken about a loud and very public argument between Rob and Nick at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party the night before the killings, with witnesses noting Nick seemed withdrawn and out of place.
Michele had reportedly also been confiding to friends for months that she and Rob were at their breaking point, anguished over Nick’s mental health and long-running struggles with substance abuse, and unsure how to help him anymore.
