Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s Australia trip could be a massive disaster — and according to a Page Six report, the royal family isn’t happy about it! (What’s new though, right? LOLz!)
The couple is set to travel Down Under next Tuesday for four days, where they will participate in various events — from visiting mental health charities and meeting sick children to giving widely expensive speeches! They will spend their time in Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney. Harry will meet with the Australian branch of the Invictus Games and give a keynote address at the InterEdge Psychosocial Safety Summit.
They will self-fund their travel and security, because despite them relying on their royal titles for attention, this is not a monarchy sponsored trip. They’re not working royals, after all! But that obviously creates some confusion, considering Australia is still part of the monarchy.
Meghan Markle Plotting UK Comeback — How She Plans To Win Everyone Over!
Royal author Robert Jobson told Page Six on Friday:
“I’m sure [Buckingham Palace] would prefer that Harry and Meghan weren’t going, but there’s not a lot they can do about it. They have no control. There will undoubtedly be a sense of confusion about what Harry and Meghan are there for … this trip may stick in the gullet of the palace.”
Robert Hardman agreed:
“It does get confusing. If they are traveling as celebrities — which is what they are — that’s fine, but if there is any royal or official apparatus then that’s going to invite criticism.”
A palace insider even shaded the couple:
“They yearn for the catnip of attention.”
Damn!
The outlet learned that Meghan plans to have meetings about launching her lifestyle brand, As Ever, in Australia, and she’s already trademarked 12 products in the country. Always selling! She’ll also be appearing at that fancy girls’ weekend event — which is not sold out, despite reports. The website now states “a handful of additional rooms just released,” as 7News Australia journalist Ariana Pezeshki claimed her ticket was canceled, supposedly because of her job. Yikes!
One important note is that Harry and Meghan are not expected to meet with any government officials during the trip — unless someone extends an invite, sources noted. Still, it could be a rocky experience for them because there’s a big anti-monarchy campaign in the country, Jobson said:
“Things are all the more awkward because not that long ago, Australia was debating become a republic.”
They may not be active members of the royal family anymore, but that’s still a bit awkward! Unlike their last time in Australia back in 2018, they better be on their best behavior so they don’t cause trouble and ruffle more feathers with the royal family!!
