Prepare for Avengers: Doomsday! The Russo Brothers confirm the date their grand return to the MCU will begin production.
Things have been moving fast with Avengers: Doomsday. Progress on the then-untitled Avengers 5 stagnated after Jonathan Majors was ejected from the project. Then, all at once, the project got a new name, a new face with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and new directors in the Russo Brothers. The only question left was when the production would actually start!
This question too was answered during a recent appearance by the Russo Brothers at New York Comic Con. When speaking to Collider, the duo revealed that Avengers: Doomsday plans to start production in Spring of next year. An exact date was not given, though that’s likely because the day shooting begins is still in flux.
The Current Cast Of Avengers: Doomsday
Despite production beginning so soon on Avengers: Doomsday, the Russo Brothers have a surprisingly sparse cast confirmed so far. Joining Robert Downey Jr. in his return to the MCU includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While many assume this simply means Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, it’s also possible Ralph Ineson makes his return as Galactus in the massive crossover event.
Of course, it’s likely the Russo Brothers are once more planning to bring together stars from all across the MCU. It’s almost guaranteed that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will appear in Avengers: Doomsday across from Robert Downey Jr. Simu Liu was also said to have had a large role in a prior incarnation of the script, potentially suggesting that the star may make his grand return to the silver screen in the upcoming production.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
