It’s shaping up to be a big year for Ryan Gosling, who is soon to star in one of the most anticipated sci-fi films in years, Project Hail Mary. The epic is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir, who is also famous for writing the book that was adapted into Ridley Scott’s 2015 sci-fi movie, The Martian. Project Hail Mary is due to arrive in theaters in just a few weeks, and Gosling is already earning Oscar buzz for his performance in the film. It wouldn’t be the first time that Gosling was recognized by the Academy for his performance, though. He earned his first Oscar nod for his performance in Half Nelson before also receiving recognition for his performances in La La Land and Barbie.
Gosling has starred in plenty of entertaining hits that didn’t receive any recognition from the Academy, like The Fall Guy. The 2024 stunt/action homage co-stars Emily Blunt and Winston Duke, and it follows a stuntman who lands in a conspiracy where he must track down a missing movie star to win back the love of his life. The Fall Guy earned strong scores of 82% from critics and 84% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but the film grossed only $180 million at the box office against a $131 million budget, leaving it well short of its break-even point. As fans anxiously await Gosling’s next performance in Project Hail Mary, they’ve pushed The Fall Guy back into the Prime Video global top 10. The film is not currently streaming anywhere in America.
What Else Is Ryan Gosling Working on Right Now?
After he finishes promoting Project Hail Mary, Gosling will move right into promoting his next big sci-fi movie, Starfighter. Gosling will star opposite Amy Adams and Mia Goth in the brand-new original Star Wars movie, which has already wrapped filming and is currently scheduled for release on May 28, 2027. Shawn Levy, who most recently directed Deadpool & Wolverine for Marvel, has been tapped to helm the new Star Wars movie with a script from Jonathan Tropper. The film also stars Aaron Pierre and Daniel Ings, who was recently seen in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Check out The Fall Guy on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage of Gosling’s future projects.
