While the beloved Matildas are currently representing the green and gold at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the team’s superstar captain and leading goal-scorer has been watching from the couch.
Sidelined from the Olympic Games by an ACL injury, Samantha Kerr has been out of action for some time but that doesn’t mean the football star’s love for the sport has waned.
In fact it seems Kerr has immortalised her love for the sport in ink with a small tattoo on her finger.
The star has made no secret of her love for tattoos so here’s a look into some of her ink and what they might mean.

20 tattoo
Kerr has the number 20 tattooed to her third finger, next to her pinky. The tattoo, which sits just above her knuckle, features the number in a black, block font.
At first, the number may seem like an odd choice for a tattoo but it is a number that actually holds a lot of significance for Kerr.
The double digit is Kerr’s official player number that she wears proudly on her Chelsea United jersey as well as her Matildas jersey.
It is understood the football star was first assigned the number when she made her international debut with the Matildas in 2009.

Infinity tattoo
Another notable tattoo of Kerr’s is an infinity symbol that she has on her pinky. The tattoo, which represents eternity, is reportedly the first of Kerr’s tattoo collection and it is believed she got it in 2018.
Kangaroo tattoo
On Kerr’s index finger, she has a tattoo of a Kangaroo which could be representative of her home country.
Lotus tattoo
On the same finger as her number 20 tattoo, Kerr also has a small tattoo that resembles a lotus. It is speculated that this could be a nod to her Indian heritage. Kerr’s father Roger Kerr was born in Kolkata, India.

‘Such is life’ tattoo
Just above Kerr’s wrist is a tattoo that reads ‘such is life’ – a common turn of phrase often used to highlight the importance of acceptance.
Bird tattoo
Kerr also has a tattoo of a bird’s silhouette on the side of her wrist. While it is unknown what this tattoo could represent, birds are often used as symbols of freedom, hope, strength and joy.
