One Marvel Disney+ star has finally weighed in on the ongoing Jimmy Kimmel controversy, and perhaps not in the way fans were expecting. Kimmel’s name has been prominent in the news cycle for the last few days, when ABC announced that it was taking his show off the air indefinitely following comments about the Charlie Kirk shooting. This prompted She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany to take to her personal Instagram to encourage people to cancel their Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions. Maslany is certainly standing firm on her point, considering she headlined a Marvel show that’s currently streaming on Disney+.
SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin released a statement not long after Kimmel’s firing, saying that the guild “condemns” ABC’s decision to take Kimmel off the air. Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof followed suit, admitting that he will never do any more work for the studio until Kimmel is reinstated. President Donald Trump broke his silence on the news via his personal Truth social account, saying that Kimmel’s firing is “Great News for America.” He also called for NBC to fire Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, but the network has yet to make a move on this front.
Kimmel’s show may be done airing under the ABC banner, but fans can rest assured that we haven’t seen the last of him. Someone with as big of a platform as Jimmy Kimmel isn’t just going to disappear into the shadows, especially not with the outpouring of public support that’s come out for him in the last few days. President of Nextstar, Andrew Alford, called Kimmel’s remarks on Kirk’s death “offensive and insensitive.” You can find Kimmel’s quote that got him fired below.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
Does This Hurt Tatiana Maslany’s MCU Future As She-Hulk?
Maslany’s future in the MCU as She-Hulk may be affected by her comments on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Both Marvel and ABC operate under the Disney banner, so the company may view her remarks as actively harmful to the brand they expect her to represent. Maslany was not among the names confirmed to have a role in Avengers: Doomsday earlier this year, and if her involvement was being kept under wraps, Disney could force Marvel’s hand to cut her role in the film. Still, Maslany would certainly have no issue being cut for standing up for an issue she believes in so strongly.
