Sin Shake Sin Blazes a Trail of Raw Rock with “Misinformation”

Sin Shake Sin is not your run-of-the-mill rock endeavor. The edgy project is the bold and unfiltered mouthpiece of Stacy Hogan, a life-long musician, South Georgia native, and bona fide Nashville studio musician who has reached over 130 million streams on services like Spotify and YouTube with his no-holds-barred approach to fierce riffs, razor-sharp social commentary, big-time production value, and what he describes as “deep down in the mud honesty.”

Hogan cut his professional teeth as a musician at the young age of 15, swiftly moving into production work and building a high-traffic licensing/publishing company by 24. The multi-faceted artist’s work has appeared on Universal and Sumerian Records over the years, but he truly became Sin Shake Sin when he decided to focus on the independent project and hit his stride, with the single “Can’t Go To Hell” rocketing to #5 on Billboard’s Rock Radio Most Added chart, while Sirius XM Octane and nationally syndicated radio programs like Hard Drive with Lou Brutus embraced his sound.

As the project’s principal songwriter and founder, Hogan writes, records, and performs every piece of music himself, and even assumes the production, mixing, and mastering roles. “Misinformation” finds him opening up slightly and letting in one outside collaborator, drummer Dave Abbruzzese. Known for his Grammy-Award winning work with Pearl Jam, Abbruzzese’s power animal performance brings a new level of energy to Hogan’s razor-sharp message.

“I was frustrated at all the media and all the ways misinformation comes at us,” Hogan says of the track. “Whether that’s TV news, the internet, memes, or advertising, we as a society are just being spoon-fed.  Too many people fall for it.  This song is about awareness and speaking up. The power of information versus the power of misinformation. The power of knowledge. It’s about not sitting idly by while those with their own selfish agendas dictate the world around you.”

Directed by recent Sin Shake Sin collaborator Josh Lockhart and produced by Hogan himself, the single’s music video was also a passion project with roots in Hogan’s original concept.

Sonically, Sin Shake Sin is a genre-bending collision of the industrial, swampy blues, and scorching-hot rock hooks. The music carries echoes of Nirvana, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, and Creedence Clearwater Revival as Hogan bends the ear and shines a light on the less-than-politically correct truths. Sin Shake Sin’s signature sound also includes Hogan’s eight-string guitar, which he utilizes across the album to help it rumble with a unique sense of darkness.

In addition to creating Sin Shake Sin, Hogan has lent his writing and instrumental skills to bands such as Starset and RED. He even wrote rock singles for Korn guitar player/Songwriter Brian Head Welch, and produced an album which topped Billboard’s Classical chart. His work has earned mentions in magazines and on websites such as Guitar World and Loudwire, and he was recently interviewed on Loudwire Nights right after Metallica. “It was just the craziest, most full-circle, surreal moment ever,” Hogan recalls. “My mother took me to see my first concert when I was 11.. and it was Metallica”.

Hogan’s two previous Sin Shake Sin albums were Lunatics and Slaves and The Mess We’ve Made, both of which give listeners a sense for what Sin Shake Sin is all about. Now with “Misinformation” , Hogan proves that music made on his own terms can be boundary-pushing, socially conscious, massive, with a timely message available to anyone who is ready to hear the truth.
