Twenty-five years since their ground-quaking self-titled debut album, Slipknot are bringing the pain across the country with as much intensity as ’99.
That album is some of the most extreme music ever to reach a mainstream audience. It rerouted the trajectory of metal and terrorized parents and school principals. It made Slipknot heroes to misfits who painted their nails black and brushed off digs from meathead jocks. “They could tell it was real. They could tell it came from a place that understood what it was like to be marginalized,” Corey Taylor recalls. “We were so fucking hungry we would have eaten through the backs of people’s heads.”
