Today, the world learned 2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially in production.
In honour of the exciting news, we thought we’d take a look back at all of the actors who have taken on the role of the hero over the years and, spoiler alert, there are a lot of them (28, to be exact).

Paul Soles
Paul Sole is the original Spider-Man.
The actor voiced the iconic hero in the first ever Spider-Man TV show, simply titled Spider-Man, which ran from 1967 to 1970.
Nicholas Hammond
You probably didn’t know an Aussie actor took on the role!
Aussie-American actor Nicholas Hammond, perhaps best known for his role in The Sound of Music, starred as the first ever live-action Spider-Man in the self-titled TV show, released in 1977.
The actor reprised the role in The Amazing Spider-Man (1977-1979), Spider-Man Strikes Back (1978) and Spider-Man: The Dragon’s Challenge (1979).
Ted Schwartz
Ted Schwartz voiced the hero in the 1981 animated series Spider-Man. 
Dan Gilvezan

Dan Gilvezan voiced one of the most poplar early renditions of the character in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends from 1981 to 1983.
Christopher Daniel Barnes
In 1994 another animated show titled Spider-Man was released, this time with Christopher Daniel Barnes voicing the hero. 
Rino Romano
Rino Romano took on the role, voicing the character from 1999 to 2001 in Spider-Man Unlimited.

Tobey Maguire
Of course, one of our core three is Tobey Maguire.
He was the first actor to take on the live-action role in a feature film, starring in the trilogy of movies released in 2002, 2004 and 2007.
The role catapulted him to fame and he is often regarded as the original Spider-Man, reprising the role in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. 
Neil Patrick Harris
No, this is not a mistake – Neil Patrick Harris really did play Spider-Man.
The famed actor voiced the character in the MTV animated series Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, released in 2003.
Josh Keaton
Josh Keaton voiced Spider-Man from 2008 to 2009 in The Spectacular Spider-Man. 
Reeve Carney
Yep, Spider-Man really did make his way to Broadway.
Reeve Carney played the hero in the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark from 2011 to 2014.

Andrew Garfield
Here we have number two in our core three – Andrew Garfield.
Garfield is the star of The Amazing Spider-Man films, reprising the role in 2021 for Spider-Man: No Way Home. 
Drake Bell
Here’s another one that might shock people: Spider-Man is one of Drake Bell’s biggest roles.
The Nickelodeon star voiced the hero in several projects such as The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2012), Ultimate Spider-Man (2012-2017), LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload (2013), Avengers Assemble (2013-2015) and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (2013-2015). 
Benjamin Diskin
Benjamin Diskin was the voice behind Spider-Man in 2015’s LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Avengers Reassembled. 
Robbie Daymond
Robbie Daymond has voiced the hero in the animated series Marvel’s Spider-Man since 2017.

Jake Johnson
Jake Johnson is the man behind the highest-rated Spider-Man movie.
The New Girl star voices Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023).
The movies are highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike as the best Spider-Man movies created. 
Chris Pine
This might get confusing, but Chris Pine also voices Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
We won’t give away spoilers, but we will say the concept of parallel universes comes into play here. 
Nicholas Cage
Nicolas Cage is also the voice behind the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Once again, parallel universes. 
Tom Holland
Finally, we have our most recent Spider-Man and the man who completes the core three, Tom Holland.
Holland is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man, starring in solo films Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
He’s also appeared in the franchise’s other films such as Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), and has a fourth solo film set for release in 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
