Aussie music festival Splendour in the Grass has announced it won’t be returning in 2025 after cancelling its 2024 event due to “unexpected events”.
Organisers took to social media to share the news, saying they just need “a little more time to recharge”.
“Hey gang, sorry it’s been so quiet, but we had a little holiday…finally,” organisers of the festival, which began in 2001, wrote.

“The rest of the festival team have still been busy cooking up some awesome new things for music lovers in Australia, but Splendour needs a little more time to recharge and we won’t be back this year.
“Think of it as a breather so we can come back even bigger and better when the time is right,” they added.

“Lots of other huge events on the horizon so keep an ear to the ground in the coming months – we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!”
In a statement shared with Rolling Stone Australia, promoter Live Nation said that it will be ready and waiting when they team behind Splendour decide to return.
“The festivals team has our full support to bring Splendour in the Grass back when they feel it’s right,” the statement read
“In the meantime, we’re working on exciting new projects to support artists and the industry, while meeting the demands of music fans and look forward to sharing more in the coming months.”
The news comes after a devastating year for Australian live music, with several festivals including Splendour cancelled in 2024.
The 2024 event which featured a lineup including Kylie Minogue, G Flip and Tash Sultana, was cancelled less than a week after tickets went on sale.

Organisers announced the news, sharing that due to “unexpected events” Splendour would “be taking the year off” with many fans hoping that meant the festival would return in 2025.
Fans are now left wondering when and if the beloved music festival will return to the North Byron Parklands as the Aussie live music industry takes another blow.
However, coming into 2025 things have begun to look up.
At the end of 2024, New South Wales new years festival Lost Paradise sold out all general admission tickets.
This as well as touring festival Wildlands selling out several locations, and upcoming festival Laneway also likely to sell out all locations.
