Starfield and Valheim are easily two of the most popular game releases of the 2020s, and no matter how you may feel about them, both games offered something great that pulled in players. Now, a new RPG releasing in January is blending the gameplay mechanics of both to offer up a sci-fi experience we’re all pretty excited to check out.
We’re talking about StarRupture, a base-building game set in space with first-person combat and the kind of industrial intrigue we’ve come to expect from Bethesda’s biggest RPGs. You can view it over on Steam right now, and we’re convinced fans of Starfield and Valheim will want to check it out as soon as it arrives next week.
StarRupture Lands On January 6
Developed and published by Creepy Jar, StarRupture is releasing on January 6, 2026. You can wishlist the game on Steam, and while you wait, you can check out screenshots and the trailer (which you can also watch above). From what we’ve seen so far, it looks really cool.
Described as a “first-person, open-world, base-building game,” StarRupture is teasing “tons of exploration” and “advanced combat.” You can play solo or join a group. And to spice things up, the planet is always changing, which is something you’ll need to take into consideration as you gather and manage resources, build your base, and fight off alien hordes.
It’s Basically Starfield Meets Valheim
If you were disappointed by Starfield, as a lot of people were, then StarRupture may be just what you’re looking for. Its first-person combat and sci-fi setting also reminds us of Outer Worlds and No Man’s Sky, which makes it all the more enticing. Basically, if you’re a fan of sci-fi, you don’t want to sleep on this one.
On the other side of things, fans of base-building in Valheim should be equally intrigued. The gathering, building, and multiplayer features in StarRupture remind us a lot of our favorite Viking video game. And given that the planet in StarRupture is always changing, there will be plenty of ways to keep the game feeling fresh and new.
Starfield and Valheim are two of the most popular games of the last few years, so it’s great to see the best of both those worlds blended together for StarRupture. We’re optimistic that it’ll have exactly what we’re looking for in our next sci-fi obsession. And the good news is that the wait isn’t very long, since you’ll be able to check it out starting on January 6, 2026.
