Even Steven Spielberg is now weighing in on the Timothée Chalamet drama!
Amid the backlash over the 30-year-old actor’s controversial comments about how “no one cares” about ballet and opera, the legendary filmmaker took aim at him during a panel at the 2026 SXSW Conference and Festival on Friday. While discussing the importance of going to the cinema, Steven said:
“For me, the real experience comes when we can influence a community to congregate in a strange, dark space where all of us are strangers. At the end of a really good movie experience, we are all united with a whole bunch of feelings that we walk into the daylight with or into the nighttime with. And there’s nothing like that. It happens in movies and in concerts. And it happens in ballet and opera, by the way.”

Not him getting called out by Steven Spielberg! Ouch! The 79-year-old director then added:
“We want that to be sustained. We want that to go forever.”
He gets the importance of those art forms, unlike Timothée!
It may be safe to say Timmy will not win the Oscar, nor work with Spielberg on a movie in the future! Oof! The Marty Supreme star really effed up this time! What are your reactions to Steven’s remarks, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments (below)!
