Taylor Swift fans got the last laugh after C.J. Gardner-Johnson was cut by the Houston Texans.
The Texans announced the surprising decision on Tuesday, September 23, parting ways with Gardner-Johnson, 27, after the safety played just three games for the franchise.

Swift’s song “Karma” was a popular response to the news of Gardner-Johnson’s release, with another fan reacting to the news by writing the lyrics, “Karma’s a relaxing thought.”
Gardner-Johnson ruffled the feathers of Swift fans multiple times earlier this year after winning the Super Bowl as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The football star first took a shot at Swift just minutes after the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in February’s Super Bowl LIX.
“Should’ve Stayed with that thick s***,” Gardner-Johnson wrote via his Instagram Story alongside a photo of him taunting Swift’s then-boyfriend, Travis Kelce, during the game. (Swift and Kelce, both 35, got engaged in August.)
Gardner-Johnson’s post was a thinly veiled reference to Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole, whom he dated before Swift.
At the Eagles’ victory parade days later, Gardner-Johnson doubled down on his trolling of Swift and her fans.
The athlete showed up to the parade wearing a sweatshirt reading, “Swifties Can LIX My Balls,” a reference to Super Bowl LIX.
In the aftermath, Swift fans began bombarding a Florida restaurant tied to Gardner-Johnson’s parents with negative reviews.
“I have friends who were sending me the screenshots,” Gardner-Johnson’s mother, Delatron Johnson, told TMZ on February 11. “They were going, ‘Oh my God, look at this!’ And the first thing everyone said was, ‘The Swifties have attacked.’”

Delatron explained that the Swifties’ efforts were all for naught, however, because they closed the restaurant the month before the Eagles’ Super Bowl win.
“We’ve been dealing with this since he was a kid,” Delatron said of her son’s reputation as a trash talker. “He talks the talk ’cause he can back it up. The same thing with his mother, I talk the talk because I can back it up.”
Gardner-Johnson was released after an underwhelming 0-3 start to the season for the Texans.
In three starts, Gardner-Johnson had 15 tackles with no interceptions or pass breakups.
