Post-hardcore greats Touché Amoré have shared the second single from their upcoming sixth album Spiral In A Straight Line. Titled “Hal Ashby,” it’s a nod to the famed director of Harold and Maude, The Last Detail, Being There, and other classics who gets namedropped in the lyrics (“a misguided Hal Ashby catastrophe”) and also referenced in the Sean Stout-directed music video. Vocalist Jeremy Bolm calls the video “half a love letter to Hal and half a dreamlike interpretation of the song as a whole. Something that can be misunderstood as this or that — and finding the grace in-between.” The song toes the line between staying true to Touché’s classic melodic hardcore sound and also defying it, with an underlying acoustic guitar and other non-hardcore elements. Check out the song and video below.
