As we head into Christmas week, a lot of us have holiday action film “Die Hard” on repeat. But there’s a new film set to drop early next year that’s caught our eye… and some comparisons: Cleaner starring Daisy Ridley.
Set in present-day London, a group of radical activists take over an energy company’s annual gala, seizing 300 hostages in order to expose the corruption of the hosts. Their just cause is hijacked by an extremist within their ranks, who is ready to murder everyone in the building to send his anarchic message to the world. It falls to an ex-soldier turned window cleaner, played by Ridley, suspended 50 stories up on the outside of the building, to save those trapped inside, including her younger brother.

-Law enforcement / Ex-Soldier becomes the only hope, Check.
-Saving a loved one at any cost, Check.
These similarities have us ready to watch, but we’re equally excited to see how this film brings its own unique spin on the action thriller genre. Check out the trailer featuring Daisy Ridley’s badass fight moves and Clive Owen’s evil grin!
The film is directed by Martin Campbell and written by Simon Uttley. In Theaters February 21, 2025.
