For San Francisco-born artist Danny Lannon, the creative force behind Vacances, music has never been just about sound — it’s about crafting a feeling, a world, a visual and emotional language people can step into. After fronting electro-pop band The Frail and performing alongside acts like Justice, Hot Chip, and TV on the Radio, Lannon began to envision something more expansive: a project that could be immersive, cinematic, and deeply personal.
That vision became Vacances, a solo endeavor rooted in retro-futuristic synths, heartfelt storytelling, and stylized aesthetics. Combining a decade of indie credibility with an eye for visual direction, Lannon has shaped Vacances into a multi-sensory universe — one that is nostalgic yet modern, polished yet emotionally raw.

Now, Lannon is preparing to release “Don’t Cry” on June 27, an unreleased Vacances single that marks a defining moment for the project. Co-created with electro-pop favorite Penguin Prison, the remix transforms the original track into a pulsing, dancefloor-ready anthem that channels heartache into movement.
“The remix gave it this energy that felt like healing in motion — like you could dance your way through the sadness,” says Lannon.
“Don’t Cry” captures what Vacances does best: pairing vulnerability with shimmer, sadness with style. The track’s evolution — from reflective ballad to late-night banger — underscores Lannon’s instinct for turning emotional weight into something undeniably kinetic.
The single also previews what’s to come: a new Vacances EP arriving soon, featuring additional collaborations with Penguin Prison, Mae, and other artists in Lannon’s creative orbit. With a deepening focus on visual storytelling, fashion, and world-building, this next chapter is set to be Vacances’ most expansive yet.
“I’ve always wanted Vacances to be a place people can escape into — a neon world where everything feels heightened, but true.”
With “Don’t Cry” leading the way, Lannon continues to build a sound that’s as transportive as it is honest — a future-pop dreamscape where emotion, style, and movement collide.
