After years of heartbreak, speculation, and confusion surrounding her health, there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel for Wendy Williams.
The former talk show queen, whose larger-than-life personality once ruled daytime television, has reportedly been cleared of a diagnosis that changed the course of her life.
According to new info obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, a top neurologist in NYC determined Wendy does NOT have frontotemporal dementia — you know, the condition that kept her in a restrictive court-ordered guardianship for more than three years.

Sources close to the situation say Wendy recently underwent an extensive series of neurological tests. The results, which were delivered to her legal team late last month and have just been unearthed now, reportedly came back showing no evidence of the degenerative disease.
Whoa…
That conclusion directly contradicts the original medical findings that were used to justify her guardianship. As we’ve reported, fontotemporal dementia is known to be progressive and irreversible, and is a condition that typically worsens with time.
But Wendy’s story has not followed that pattern. In fact, insiders claimed to the outlet that she has shown neurological resilience, particularly since becoming sober a few years back. Those close to her told TMZ she’s been lucid, communicative, and fighting to reclaim her independence. Basically, all things that would seem to be inconsistent with the initial diagnosis that had been keeping her under a guardian’s control.
With this bombshell revelation, Wendy’s legal team is also reportedly preparing to take action. That same news outlet reports that her team — led by powerful lead lawyer Joe Tacopina — plans to file legal papers within the next couple weeks asking the court to terminate the guardianship once and for all. And if the judge refuses, the legal team is reportedly prepared to request a jury trial to fight for Wendy’s freedom.
Which, uh, WOW. Talk about a potentially major update!
