Rob Westergaard joined Below Deck Mediterranean season 5 as a deckhand, and he has had quite a busy life ever since. When he walked into The Wellington megayacht in Spain, Rob was excited to work with his exterior team. He worked on deck alongside Alex Radcliffe, Pete Hunziker, and Bosun Malia White. While there were times when Maila would get on Rob’s case for not pulling enough weight, they had a great working relationship overall.
During Rob’s time on the Bravo series, he fell for Third Stew Jessica More. The pair had a solid relationship during the beginning of the season, but it started to go downhill after Hannah Ferrier was fired as Chief Stew. Jess started to notice red flags in their relationship, such as Rob texting his ex-girlfriend back home. While they had quite a tumultuous relationship throughout the rest of the season, they took their trip to Bali together. However, Rob and Jess didn’t last long, as they broke up soon after their getaway was over.

Rob Worked In Yachting After Below Deck Med Season 5
He Joined The Engineering Department
After filming Below Deck Med season 5, Rob went right back to working on yachts. On Rob’s Instagram, back in 2021, he shared a since-deleted photo of himself working in the engineering department alongside a fellow crew member. In his caption, the now 34-year-old mentioned he began “learning the rope[s]” of engineering and was excited to expand his knowledge of the yacht industry.
Rob even appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen along with fellow crew member Aesha Scott, where he spoke about working in this new department. “I’m in the engineering department of a vessel called Jamaica Bay. Big 60-meter vessel,” he said, adding, “The yard period, there’s a lot going on, so I’m pretty occupied right now, so I’m happy.” (via BravoTV).
Rob Isn’t Very Active Online
His Instagram Is Sparse
Other than the few social media posts, Rob has remained low-key since his appearance on Below Deck Med four seasons ago. However, Rob does update his Instagram followers once in a while through his few posts and Instagram Stories. From the few Stories he has posted to his highlight reel, Rob was in Florida in 2021. However, he did not specify if he was there for work or not. Since 2021, Rob has shared much about his career in yachting, so this may be over for him. Rob doesn’t share much about work so he could just be keeping his work life private.
Rob entered into a relationship a year after
Below Deck Med
season 5 aired.
When Rob has posted to his grid, it was mainly about his girlfriend-turned-wife, Dani Westergaard. It seems the two started dating in August 2021 and have created a strong relationship since. According to Dani‘s Instagram, it seems she and Rob likely met while yachting, as she has taken photos of herself on yachts. When Rob does share on Instagram, the photos usually include him and Dani. The couple now lives in South Carolina together, according to Rob’s bio.

He’s Also A Father
In an Instagram post from December 26, 2023, Rob shared a photo from Florida of Dani in a wedding dress, calling her his wife. It’s very likely the two got married during this time but didn’t share many photos. Dani does post more online of the couple, and the two seem equally obsessed with each other. Rob went through a rough time on Below Deck Med season 5 in his relationship with Jessica, so it’s nice to see Rob found a great love.
Rob has been a father now for almost two months.
A few months after getting married, Dani shared on her Instagram page on April 17 that she and Rob welcomed their first child together, a son named Jesse James Westergaard. In the captain, Dani gushed about how thankful she was that Rob made her a mother and how excited she was to see Rob be a father to their son. Rob has posted about welcoming his son on his Instagram Stories, as he has a highlight page dedicated to his birth.
Since leaving Below Deck Mediterranean four years ago, Rob has been busy enjoying life in South Carolina with his son and wife. Rob has completely moved on from his days on the show and is focused on his new chapter in life. As for his career in yachting, that may be over too, since becoming a husband and father.
