This is something I've noticed in movies from the 2000's to now. A lot of modern movies don't even bother showing a dedicated title sequence to set the mood at the beginning of their movies anymore like they used to. Take the first two Terminator films for example, both made by James Cameron, they both have terrific title sequences with the signature main theme playing during the sequence.. not only to set the tone, but to introduce the films literary themes and music theme to come into use later. But the later Terminator movies don't have title sequences.. the movies just kinda start, with a very boring title cards (with the exception of Salvation) I can remember heaps of action, sci-fi & horror movies from the 70's 80's & 90's having great title sequences, Halloween 1, 2, 3, 4, Terminator 1 & 2, Total Recall, Speed etc.. Now some of these title sequences were better than others but they all essentially served the same purpose, to set the mood and introduce the literary themes and music themes of the movie. And tbh they were cool! What stylistic choice in modern Hollywood caused the Title sequence to slowly fade away from movies? submitted by /u/aus_liam444 |
