Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 9, titled “How the Story Ends,” features Ashley Sutton’s Hannah Sophia Finch killing another new character.
The fans are now wondering about the reasons why Hannah killed Joel McHale’s Kodiak, her wilderness guide. Both these individuals were introduced earlier in Season 3 and quickly became prominent parts of the narrative set in the past. However, as Yellowjackets has proven time and again, no one is safe, and almost all characters in the story are capable of reprehensible actions.
Here’s why Hannah killed Kodiak in Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 9.
Hannah, and her decision to kill Kodiak in Yellowjackets Season 3, explained
Hannah first appeared in Yellowjacklets in Season 3 Episode 6. She is a scientist researching a certain species of frogs along with fellow scientist Edwin (Nelson Franklin). The surviving members of Yellowjackets discover that these frogs are the sources of the strange noise they have been hearing throughout the season. Lottie (Courtney Eaton), believing that the Wilderness didn’t want the scientists there, murdered Edwin.
Kodiak or Kodi first appeared in Season 3 Episode 7 and promptly escaped with Hannah after Edwin’s death. However, they didn’t get far and were eventually captured by the survivors. Their presence soon started to widen the rift in the group. A few among them, including Natalie (Sophie Thatcher), hoped that Hannah and Kodi could lead them back to civilization, but Lottie, Shauna (Sophie Nelisse), and Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown) believed that this wasn’t something that the Wilderness wanted them to do. They were also afraid Hannah and Kodi would tell the outside world about what the survivors had been up to.
In Episode 9, Natalie and the others hand the pair a knife so they can free themselves. Unfortunately, Shauna and the rest catch Hannah and Kodi. Holding them at gunpoint, the survivors ask them who has given them the knife. Hannah lies that Kodi gave the knife. When he calls her a liar, she kills him by stabbing him through the eye. Hannah likely does this believing that she has no other way to survive the night except by showing that she is also capable of murder and could be part of the group.
Could Hannah be the pit girl from Yellowjackets Season 1?
The pit girl first appeared in the Season 1 premiere, and since then, there has been much speculation about who that could be. Season 3 Episode 9 introduces Hannah, a potential new candidate to ultimately serve in that role in the story. This means that the pit girl’s identity might be revealed in the Season 3 finale.
