This party really ruined everything…
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now down to just two staff members for their newly rebranded Archewell Philanthropies after they had to let go of a ton of employees due to financial troubles. And on Friday, they were dealt with another blow when it was announced that their chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, who was their 11th total publicist, also just resigned. Ouch!
Per Page Six intel on Saturday, Meredith resigned before Christmas but is staying through the new year to help the couple with the transition. This is after she only began working for them in January. Another quick exit for the pair! Oof.

In a classic PR move, Meredith tried to downplay this as having anything to do with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bad reputations by saying in a statement that she is leaving to focus on “pursuing a new opportunity in 2026.” Yes, a new opportunity that does not involve Harry and Meghan.
Whether or not there really is a new opportunity, it sounds like there’s more drama than meets the eye! Apparently, this exit all stems from… yup, Kris Jenner‘s birthday party and all the controversy that unfolded afterward! OMG.
As you’ll recall, Harry and Meg attended Kris’ 70th birthday bash in November. The Suits alum apparently rubbed some the wrong way since she was “in networking mode” the whole night. The Sussexes then ruffled feathers with the KarJenners after demanding that photos of them be removed from the ‘gram after the party. Meghan was captured in pics not wearing a poppy, which is customary to honor fallen soldiers. The party was happening during Britain’s Remembrance Weekend, and so the missing poppy was seen as “a huge disappointment” and “embarrassing for Harry,” sources told Radar Online at the time. The whole debacle was said to have ruined the Montecito lovebird’s friendship with the famous family, who were “getting annoyed with the Sussex camp” for “overshadowing” Kris, a source told Page Six.
Well, it turns out the KarJenners weren’t the only ones fed up with this scandal! Meredith was also OVER IT! An insider told Page Six that this drama was the PR guru’s “final straw.” As the head of PR for the duo, Meredith was stuck dealing with all the backlash, and she was just sick of it! A source close to Maines told the outlet:
“She’s unflappable, and does not complain … she really enjoyed her time there, but at a certain point it’s time to go.”
They went on:
“Coming from the VC and tech industries, she’s used to so many things going on at all times. … Others may have thought it was not a traditional background, but I think it worked well. The amount she was able to do in almost a year was amazing — she launched Meghan’s podcast and TV show … and looked after the Prince’s charity work.”
The confidant insisted she “did what she needed to do.” But at the end of the day, it seems like she just had enough of the constant scandal that follows the ex-royals, and we can’t really blame her. That makes her work ten times harder! Sounds like she saw her out and took it!
Harry and Meghan really burned a lot of bridges by attending that birthday party. Wow. Reactions, Perezcious readers??
