It only makes sense for Angel Reese to become a Victoria’s Secret angel.
Reese will make history at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Wednesday, October 15 in New York City, becoming the first professional athlete to walk the runway.
The Chicago Sky star announced the news on her Instagram on Thursday, October 9.
“Stepping into a dream: From Angel to a Victoria Secret ANGEL,” Reese, 23, wrote at the time, alongside behind-the-scenes photos from a Victoria’s Secret photoshoot. “I’m finally getting my wings. I’ll be walking the Victoria’s Secret 2025 runway show for the first time, and it feels like destiny. Wings on, heels ready … Catch me on the runway.”
The Victoria’s Secret social media page also posted in celebration of Reese’s addition to the lineup.
“Angel Reese, welcome to the runway,” the company posted via Instagram on Thursday. “The first professional athlete angel … major is an understatement.”
The fashion show first started in 1995, gaining more popularity in 2001. It ran annually until 2019, when it was discontinued briefly after the brand was heavily criticized for its lack of racial and body inclusivity. The show came back last year, in 2024. Reese was in the crowd for the reimagined show, which featured musical performances from Cher, Lisa, and Tyla.
In an interview with People, Reese called Thursday’s announcement a “full-circle moment.”
“I literally could not stop smiling!” Reese told the outlet. “It’s such a surreal and full-circle moment — just last year I was in the audience manifesting being on that runway, completely inspired and in awe of all the powerful women walking down the runway, and now I get to return as an Angel. This will be an unforgettable night that I’ll forever be grateful for.”
Reese also shared how excited she is to be part of the iconic show via her Instagram Story.
“I really manifested this,” she wrote. “My dreams, my work, my ambition are all coming to life! See you October 15th!”
Reese has previously said she wants to add modeling to her repertoire, in addition to her athletic achievements.
Reese also announced a collaboration with Juicy Couture, the clothing and accessories company, on Monday, October 6, via Instagram.
The Sky posted a congratulatory post on Instagram for their star, showing a montage of her pregame walk-in outfits from the season.
The announcement comes after Reece missed the Sky’s final three games of the season due to injury. At the end of the year, the team suspended her for half a game for “statements detrimental to the team.”
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reese made scathing comments about the squad, saying they “have to get good players” and calling it a “non-negotiable.” She also claimed that the team “can’t settle for what we have this year.”
The star later publicly apologized to her teammates, but was still suspended by the team. Reese has two years left on her rookie contract.
Reese played in 30 games with the Sky this year, averaging a double-double with 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. She did not play in another game during the season after the suspension and amid ongoing trade rumors.
