David Leavitt is a commentator on games and pop culture. He sparked one of his arguments with a nifty tweet around an imagined dealing between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump’s fashion sense during a wake. A picture of a telegraphic-looking Zelensky side-eyeing Trump captioned, “Don’t you know that you’re supposed to wear black to a funeral?” passed around in a viral form and was explained by Leavitt as a sly allusion rather than a serious contention.

Therefore, right away came the ‘brutal’ Twitter discussions about appropriateness of the same, opinion on political preference. Some were vicious, whereas others defended Trump’s choice of attire. Truly a Twitter melee, messy but entertaining.
Greg Levitsky threw in a completely irrelevant but funny insult from nowhere: “You called the cops for a toothbrush worth $1.” Well, that escalated. Jen tried to prove that Joe Biden did not wear black either to shift the narrative. But let’s be honest-nobody was really into fair rebuttals; it was chaos, and chaos ruled in the end.
Sophia Wright hammered back to another commentor clarifying that if anything, Zelenskyy just looked like he was wearing a flannel shirt. Which is true, but…totally irrelevant? Got to love the Internet and its classic digression like that. Austin DeLuca pictured Trump instead snapping back his own fashion criticism: “Don’t you know you’re supposed to wear a suit, a tie, and not sneakers?” That’s so classic Trump.
Things took a really strange turn when Trenemy Number One introduced the subject of child abuse symbolism, saying, Blue is the color of the victims of sexual violence. Not seen coming. Meanwhile, Dharma Coyote, aka “Paradox King,” helped us with irony to understand how lame the joke was, then blessed us with an even weirder image. Thus Another victory of the Internet-Absurd.
Jonathan Cyfer was also pretty adamant that dark blue suits are acceptable at funerals and people should debate on actual issues. Ryan Carson joined in to agree: “I never wear all-black for funerals; garments rather celebrate the deceased instead.” In contrast, Norma P viewed it differently and suggested that the thought currently residing in Zelensky’s mind dwells, “Why does he always have to make it about him?”. Honestly? That is a thought that has merit.
On the other hand, Bud Christenson was not buying any of it, claiming that Trump wore blue deliberately to grab attention. DraxGeekyPundit had it at just “Zelenskyy has to school Trump on many things,” with a link to a meme about a disappointed teacher standing around. Louis just tossed it in the trash and proceeded to call Zelenskyy “a fake general.” Oof.
Probably, DraxGeekyPundit had this crazy interaction ahead with Tim, DraxGeekyPundit insulted Tim by calling him “a social media Fleshlight for Donald Trump.” Uh, now there is a sentence that exists. Tim just said, “At least Trump is wearing a suit,” about himself. The man has priorities.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy himself twiddled on Twitter amidst all this madness, thanking the POTUS and settling for peace. What a contrast from that circus taking place in the comments.

But it is in all evidence that two things prove themselves: First, every argument will be there, especially about Trump. Second-the new political battlefield is now fashionable critiques at funerals. Who knew?
