What This Means For HBO Max Subscribers
A Great Time To Try Something New
According to Variety, the deal between HBO and BritBox is “beneficial” for both parties, with BritBox aiming to attract new subscribers to its service as a result of this trial. A monthly BritBox subscription currently costs $8.99, and a yearly subscription is priced at $89.99.
Despite a few recent branding hiccups with its streaming platform – it went from HBO Max to Max, to HBO Max again – HBO is widely synonymous with quality. If they’re willing to platform BritBox’s content alongside its critically acclaimed hits, it means something.

Our Take On BritBox’s HBO Max Selection
BritBox Is Offering A Wide Range Of Enticing Content
The selection offered by BritBox is certainly a strategic one, but no less valuable. By providing a list of one-and-done miniseries as well as a few trial seasons of the streamer’s biggest shows – including some with new installments currently in development – there’s something available for everyone, whether you’re a fan of comedies, period dramas, cozy crime, or thrillers.
The selection offered by BritBox is certainly a strategic one, but no less valuable.
Blue Lights and Sherwood are both returning for season 3. Silent Witness is currently developing a whopping 29th season. Father Brown and the show’s even more charming spinoff, Sister Boniface Mysteries, are returning for seasons 13 and 4, respectively (Sister Boniface Mysteries season 4 will premiere on BritBox this month).
It’s also interesting that BritBox has included The Inspector Lynley Mysteries. Based on the books by Elizabeth George, a new remake of the series titled Lynley will premiere on BritBox on September 4, starring Leo Suter and Sofia Barclay. The original show was excellent, and it’ll be exciting to see how they’ve adapted the story for today’s audiences.
For anyone who’s a fan of British TV, has a hankering for more Agatha Christie, or just wants to try something completely new, this HBO Max and BritBox partnership might just provide a new favorite show.
The selected BritBox titles will be available on HBO Max from August 1 until September 29.
