This Is Lorelei (aka Nate Amos of Water From Your Eyes) has announced his next project, Holo Boy, out Dec. 12 via Double Double Whammy. The LP includes 10 rerecorded versions of songs drawn from nine different releases written between 2014 and 2021. Rather than approaching the project as a traditional best-of or revisiting his entire catalog, Amos chose tracks that stood out to him personally — ones that hold particular meaning across his years of writing.
Included with the release is lead single “Name the Band,” which sees Amos revisiting his 2021 Jimmy Buffett Tape EP. “I tried to look at the catalog as little as possible and more just think to myself, ‘What are songs from the past that I feel like are good songs, demonstrate growth, and are significant to me, in terms of embodying a certain period of time?’” Amos says.

Rather than viewing Holo Boy as a new chapter, Amos sees the record as a prequel or sister record to Box for Buddy, Box for Star. “The songs on Box for Buddy, Box for Star are really similar, and they’re produced in such a way that the differences are accentuated, whereas with Holo Boy, the songs are really different, but they’re produced in such a way that the commonalities are accentuated.”
