Netflix has announced the Season 2 renewal order for the series reboot of Little House On the Prairie, ahead of its season 1 debut. The series, based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s book, will launch on July 9th.
The family drama, which tells the origin story of the American West, stars Alice Halsey as the strong-willed Laura Ingalls, Skywalker Hughes as Laura’s older sister Mary, Luke Bracey as Pa, and Crosby Fitzgerald as Ma.
The original Little House on the Prairie series premiered on NBC in 1974 and ran for nine seasons.
The new take on the classic story is produced by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content. Rebecca Sonnenshine serves as showrunner and exec produces alongside Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions, Dana Fox and Susanna Fogel.
“I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive,” Sonnenshine said.
“We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”
Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series. added, “We are delighted to renew this beautiful reimagining of Little House on the Prairie for a second season ahead of its Netflix debut.
The exceptional work by Rebecca Sonnenshine and the entire cast and crew on Season 1 has established a rich foundation of storytelling for years to come. With its hopeful spirit and emotional authenticity, we’re confident that Little House will deliver even more of what fans truly love.”
I liked the original series as a kid, so I will give this one a shot. Stay tuned for a trailer for the series, which should be headed our way soon.
