Chuck Lorre has taken a lighthearted jab at the recent Paramount-Warner Bros. merger deal. The television producer made the comment at the premiere of The Big Bang Theory’s spinoff on Tuesday.
Chuck Lorre pokes fun at Warner Bros. deal drama at Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premiere
Award-winning television producer Chuck Lorre took a playful swipe at Warner Bros. and its recent merger deal with Paramount during the premiere of his latest series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. The show serves as the third television series in The Big Bang Theory franchise.
Speaking with the crowd, Lorre said, “This is a dream come true for me. Some of you know, this began about 12 years ago, and to be here today, having gotten to work with these incredible men. And we’ve been talking about this endlessly. This was the most amazing crew ever: set design, set decorating, costumes, props, sound, special effects.”
The Big Bang Theory creator added, “This is well beyond what we were hoping for, and we are so grateful that we got to stay in Los Angeles and make the show here.”
Moments later, Lorre addressed Paramount’s recent acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (via TheWrap). “By the way, I don’t know if your phones have started buzzing yet, but big news: the Ellison-Paramount thing fell through,” he said. Lorre then joked, “Chipotle is buying Warner Bros. Chipotle-WB.”
Lorre concluded, “Again, our heartfelt thanks to all for carrying us and making this a reality; Kevin, Lauren, Brian, John. It was just a privilege and just a joy to watch you guys kill it every episode.”
Created by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is the second direct spin-off of The Big Bang Theory. It follows the titular lead who must prevent a “multiverse Armageddon” after he accidentally damaged a device created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter. The show stars Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and John Ross Bowie.
