Fifth Season owner CJ ENM has a new scripted chief in the U.S.
Elsie Choi has joined CJ ENM America as Head of Scripted TV, effective immediately and will report to the South Korean company’s U.S. Scripted President, Angela Killoren.
She’ll work out of LA and focus on CJ ENM’s mission to develop and produce inclusive original series globally. Choi will be the creative point of contact for the company and its internationally-based subsidiary/affiliate content studios in the U.S. Furthermore, she’ll look to adapt titles from CJ’s library for English-speaking and global audiences.
Before joining, Choi was non-writing exec producer on upcoming Hulu series Interior Chinatown, which Charles Yu is creating and 20th Television is producing based on the 2020 novel of the same name. More recently, she was Head of Cable/Streaming TV at Rideback, where she was also Executive Director for the MRC x Rideback TV incubator.
Choi began her career at SVP level at Red Arrow Studios (now Seven.One Studios) and The Handmaid’s Tale exec Kari Skogland’s joint venture Mad Rabbit and worked as Head of Development for Bruce Willis’ production house Willis Brothers Films. Prior to TV, she worked at Morgan Stanley, where she managed financings for cultural institutions such as The Getty Center and the American Museum of Natural History, and held publicity roles at Dreamworks Pictures in New York and LA.

CJ ENM’s subsidiaries include Fifth Season, Studio Dragon and ENM Studios. It also owns a minority stake in Skydance, with which it has a strategic partnership, and has a co-pro pact with Paramount to create original series and films for both companies’ streaming services.
