Star Wars actor Mark Dodson dies after suffering heart attack at age 64

Star Wars voice actor Mark Dodson has passed away at age 64.

He was best known for his work in films such as Gremlins and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Dodson’s daughter told TMZ that he passed away on Saturday, March 2, after suffering a heart attack.

News of his passing was shared to Facebook by Stellar Appearances, Dodson’s talent agency for his personal appearances. 

“Mark worked on dozens of movies, video games, commercials and advertisements adding his unique voice and sound to each character and script he touched,” they wrote.

“Mark truly loved his fans and enjoyed meeting them at conventions around the world. Mark was honored to be inducted into dozens of the local chapters of the Star Wars 501st Legions over the past several decades.”

Dodson’s career spanned over four decades, working as a radio man, voice actor and producer. 

He got his first major role in 1983 when he was cast to voice the monkey-lizard like creature, Salacious Crumb in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Soon after he moved into horror, voicing Mogwal in 1984’s Gremlins.

Dodson also worked on a series of video games, lending his voice acting skills to projects such as Ghostrunner II, Bendy and the Dark Revivial, and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Over the years, he became a fan favourite at conventions, having built a long a list of notable credits including his work voicing several zombies in 1985’s Day of the Dead and as Niima Scavenger in Star Wars: Episode VII -The Force Awakens in 2015. 

He is survived by his daughter Ciara and his grandchildren, Stellar Appearances says that the family asks for privacy during this difficult time.
