The L Word alum, 81, has been dating the American Horror Story star, 49, since 2015.
Since then, some people have probably wondered if or when they plan to tie the knot. But, according to Holland, they don’t really have any “interest” in marriage.
“I don’t think [we’ll marry], no,” she said on Radio Andy this week. “We’ve never talked about it with any interest.”
“Like, it doesn’t seem to mean to us what it means to other people,” Holland continued. “But I’m sure we would if we wanted to.”
Although marriage may not be on the table for them, Holland made it clear that she and Sarah have a solid and loving relationship. “We do have a wonderful resonance,” she told Andy. “We are very interested in the same kinds of things.”
She also said they “share big differences.”
“I mean we have a big generational difference,” the actor went on, referring to her 31-year age difference with Sarah. “Which worries me for her sake.”
Still, she said, there are pros to their age gap — like her ability to relate to situations that Sarah may be experiencing at her current age.
“A lot of the things that she is going through that are very emotionally important to her right now, I went through 40 years ago, 30 years ago,” Holland shared. “She’ll bring them up and, in my memory, I’m like, of course, that’s hard. Or, of course, that’s great. Of course, that’s important to her.”
When previously asked how they’ve made their relationship last, Sarah attributed it to their separate housing arrangements.
“We spend plenty of time together, but we don’t live in the same house,” Sarah said on the Smartless podcast in May. “We’ve been together for a long time now, and I think part of it has to do with (that) we’re together when we want to be and we’re not when we don’t.”
